When Kelvin Sampson was coach at Oklahoma State, he would pry it down. Oregon coaches used athletic tape to cover up the sign. And some teams would drape towels over it. The origin of…

Colorado star point guard Spencer Dinwiddie suffered a season-ending knee injury during Sunday’s 71-54 loss to Washington at Alaska Airlines Arena, the Buffaloes announced Monday afternoon.

“It’s a big blow for him,” CU coach Tad Boyle said in a statement released by the school. “He’s worked so hard to put himself in the position he has and help lead this team to where we are today. To have that all taken away from you in one basketball play is . . . it’s tough.”

Dinwiddie, a 6-6 junior, will require surgery to repair an injured ACL in his left knee. After a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam, CU trainers determined he will miss the rest of the season.

No. 21 Colorado is 14-3 overall and 3-1 in the Pac-12.

Dinwiddie gives the impression of being in good spirits. How many people would post a selfie with their mom from the doctor’s waiting room?

In a series of posts on his Twitter account (below), he thanked fans, talked about being anxious to begin rehab and said he has faith in his CU teammates
