California senior point guard Justin Cobbs broke a bone in his right foot Monday and will need 6-8 weeks to recover.
He suffered the injury during a San Francisco Pro-Am game. The school said in a statement Wednesday that Cobbs fractured his fifth metatarsal. It’s unclear if he’ll undergo surgery.
Cobbs, a two-time second-team all-Pac-12 selection, is Cal’s leading returning scorer who averaged 15.1 points and 4.8 assists last season.
It’s likely he’ll miss the start of fall workouts, which begins Sept. 27. However, he should return before the Oct. 31 season opener against Humboldt State.
— ESPN College GameDay released it’s travel schedule and the network will make a stop at a Pac-12 game on Feb. 22. ESPN will either pull into Boulder, Colorado or Palo Alto, California. The games under consideration are Arizona at Colorado and UCLA at Stanford. At this point, it’s a tossup. Both contests will likely have conference championship implications.
— Plenty of good stats in the Pac-12′s annual preseason basketball prospectus.
— It’s a little old, but ESPN analyst Mile Simon picked Washington to finish eighth in the Pac-12. He has Arizona first followed by Colorado, UCLA, California, Stanford, Oregon and Arizona State in seventh place. The final four include Oregon State, Washington State, Utah and USC.
— And finally, here’s a video (below) of former Washington guard Justin Dentmon making a guy look silly at the San Francisco Pro-Am.

California has dominated the Pac-12 Player of the Week award recently.
A Golden Bears player has received the honor the past three weeks. On Monday, it went to Justin Cobbs.
The junior guard averaged 16.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 37.5 minutes in a pair of wins on the road, including a big-time, last-second, game-winning shot.
Cobbs began the week with a phenomenal performance in a 48-46 victory at then-No. 23 Oregon. He finished with 14 points on 6-for-11 shooting, eight rebounds and seven assists. Cobbs also made the biggest basket of his career, a long jumper with 0.7 seconds left to secure the win.
In a 60-59 victory over Oregon State, Cobbs took over at the end once again. He scored a game-high 18 points, including the final five for Cal. Cobbs also tallied five assists and two steals.
Cobbs won the conference’s weekly award Nov. 26.
Washington nominated Abdul Gaddy.
Others nominated include: Arizona’s Kaleb Tarczewski, Colorado’s André Roberson, Stanford’s Josh Huestis and UCLA’s Jordan Adams.
