M’s save ‘A team’ for Peoria

Mike Hargrove was asked if the lineup he posted for tonight’s game with the Giants — all the projected Opening Day starters except catcher Kenji Johjima –reflected a desire to get his regulars working together.
Not exactly. “Tonight’s our first TV game,” Hargrove said with a smile.
So to please the home audience on FSN, the Mariners are skirting the rule that requires teams to field at least four regulars in every spring game. Johjima is the only starter making the trip for the Mariners’ day game with the Cubs in Mesa. But the Cubs probably aren’t too concerned — they sell out virtually every game at HoHoKam Park.
Here are the lineups:
Vs. the Cubs in Mesa
3B Willie Bloomquist
LF Jeremy Reed
C Kenji Johjima
DH Ben Broussard
1B Bryan LaHair
CF Adam Jones
2B Michael Garciaparra
RF Tony Torcato
SS Rey Ordonez
RHP Cha Seung Baek
Vs. the Giants in Peoria:
CF Ichiro
3B Adrian Beltre
DH Jose Vidro
LF Raul Ibanez
1B Richie Sexson
RF Mike Morse
C Jeff Clement
2B Jose Lopez
SS Yuniesky Betancourt
RHP Jeff Weaver
NOTE: Jose Guillen was in right field in the original lineup against the Giants but was scratched with sore ribs. It’s not believed to be serious.
