Morrow a buzz saw

Make that three up, three down for Mariners hopeful Brandon Morrow in the top of the seventh. Morrow needed only eight pitches to get a fly ball to center on Mike Napoli, a pop out to left by Macier Izturis and a fly ball to center by Erick Aybar. He’s almost making it look too easy.
To recap, that’s zero runs, two hits and four baserunners total allowed by Morrow in his first 7 1/3 innings this spring. He’s got another inning to go. This should be fun to watch — today and in the week to come. Mariners still lead 9-4.
MORROW DONE
Morrow was initially to go two innings today, but the team added Julio Mateo at the last minute, so Mateo is actually working the eighth, with Aaron Small doing the ninth. It wouldn’t have shown much, in any case, for Morrow to work another inning, since the Angels just removed Gary Matthews Jr., Orlando Cabrera, Vladimir Guerrero and Garrett Anderson from the top four spots in the order — which are due up next — and replaced them with a bunch of lesser types, the best of which is Robb Quinlan. But another good day for Morrow. What a story.
