Mariners 6, Rangers 6, bottom 6th

Ben Broussard gave the M’s a two-run lead with a homer to left, his second of the spring, to open the fourth inning. Then, after the Rangers roared back to retake a 6-5 lead in the fifth with three more runs off Batista, Broussard went deep for the second time tonight — a one-out solo shot off Texas reliever C.J. Wilson.
Broussard’s third homer this spring and first multi-homer affair comes on a night when he also made a fine, lunging catch in left to rob Nelson Cruz of extra bases.
Batista had actually found a groove, retiring eight in a row from the second inning on. But he reverted to earlier form in the fifth, getting pounded hard and often. A pair of singles by Mike Young and Ian Kinsler that inning were punctuated by a Mark Teixeira double and a Gerald Laird triple.
Still, Batitsta is off yet another hook for the loss. He’s like a Timex. Took his licking in the fifth and is back out there to start the bottom of the sixth.
Richie Sexson popped out foul to end the fifth. He’s now out of the game, replaced by Mr. Versatility. No, not Willie Bloomquist — Broussard at first base.
Batista, by the way, began the sixth by giving up his 12th hit of the game. That’s 23 hits allowed by him in his last 10-plus innings over two outings.
