Today’s games cancelled

OK, so scratch those prior predictions. Both games today have, in effect, been wiped out because of snow and a daytime high of only 29 degrees. There will be a doubleheader played Sunday. Have yet to be made aware of the start times. Don’t want to think about what this will do to the team’s starting rotation or bullpen this early, but there you have it.
NEWEST UPDATE (12:47 p.m. PDT)
FSN will televise both of Sunday’s games.
UPDATE
As of 10:50 a.m. (PDT), the plan is to play a traditional doubleheader Sunday, starting at 10:05 a.m. (PDT) with the second game to follow approximately 20 minutes after completion of the first. Pitching matchups remain the same as they were to be Saturday. It’s 25 degrees right now, but the wind chill factor is 14. It’s a good thing they aren’t playing. I just walked back to my hotel from the stadium and trust me — this from a Canadian boy — that this is not the kind of weather baseball should be played in. You will not get anything close to what the game is about and it would be unfair if any games played in these conditions wound up deciding a pennant race in the AL West or Central. Or a wild-card race.
Sunday’s high is to be 35 degrees, while Monday’s is to be a balmy 37, dropping to a low of 29. Still better than what we have right now, when the first game was supposed to be going on. Though here is the wild card in all of this — a 40 percent chance of snow for Sunday. This could be a real mess if the weather decides to take a nasty turn. Postponing one game to a future date is one thing, but two or three is quite another. Keep your fingers crossed.
As far as I know, they will only play one game Monday. The remaining game would have to be made up at a later date, possibly on a Mariners east-coast trip. Both of Sunday’s games are on radio, but I believe that only one will be televised. They are still finalizing the details.
Also, I mentioned in the notebook this morning that Yuniesky Betancourt testified at the trial in Key West yesterday. Turns out they didn’t have time to get to him, so he didn’t actually testifiy. He may have to fly back at a later date. Team officials don’t know for certain yet. There were no players at the ballpark when I got there this morning. Turns out they had yet to leave the team hotel when news of the cancellations came down so they just stayed there.
