Mariners vs. Rangers, Game 2

The Mariners have a shot at first place and John McLaren isn’t messing with his lineup yet. Seven straight games of at least 10 hits finds the same guys back out there tonight. As many of you mentioned, this is a lineup in which every hitter has at least 50 runs batted in. Not many weaknesses, especially if Richie Sexson gets going. Kevin Millwood is the one Rangers pitcher who can give the M’s some trouble. Obviously, McLaren is going with the hot lineup he figures can counteract that. The M’s have gotten this close before without taking advantage and actually catching the Los Angeles Angels in the standings. If you’re the Mariners, you really don’t want this gap reverting to two games so quickly. Time for the M’s to take care of business right here and wait to see whether Roy Halladay and the Blue Jays can help out against the Angels.
This lineup reflects that. Here they are:
TEXAS (56-71)
LF Frank Catalanotto
2B Ian Kinsler
SS Michael Young
CF Marlon Byrd
1B Brad Wilkerson
DH Jason Botts
C Jason Saltalamacchia
RF David Murphy
3B Travis Metcalf
RHP Kevin Millwood
SEATTLE (72-53)
CF Ichiro
DH Jose Vidro
RF Jose Guillen
LF Raul Ibanez
3B Adrian Beltre
1B Richie Sexson
C Kenji Johjima
2B Jose Lopez
SS Yuniesky Betancourt
RHP Felix Hernandez
