By the way, some last minute tidbits: you may read about the Cleveland Indians being interested in trading for J.J. Putz. I’m told they aren’t. The Indians don’t feel they have enough trade pieces ans are more inclined to go after a free agent like Kerry Wood.
The Milwaukee Brewers, though, are interested in acquiring Putz and other pitching from the Mariners. So, put them in there with the Tigers, Mets and Cardinals for now. Milwaukee is a stealth player in any moves for Putz. Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik knows that system well. The two sides can cut to the chase pretty quickly without making a whole lot of noise.
