Ichiro to the doctor

game0402 004.jpg
In case you missed all the news on Geoff Baker Live!, the Mariners today sent Ichiro to a local doctor to have him checked out for the continuing fatigue he appears to be suffering from. No word yet on what the verdict is. This is just a precautionary move, to make sure he is indeed merely fatigued from the WBC. Ichiro is expected to join the team in Las Vegas the next two days.
The starting rotation has been officially announced and it’s the way we told you it would be yesterday:
Felix Hernandez
Erik Bedard
Carlos Silva
Jarrod Washburn
Ryan Rowland-Smith
No shocks there.
The bullpen is still being worked out and won’t be finalized until Las Vegas. I’d say Jesus Delgado (to the far left in the photo below) gets serious consideration, because, as we pointed out to you before, there are not a whole lot of guys capable of getting lefties out right now. He’s one of them — albeit from a very small sample size.

As for the catchers, the M’s will also announce their choice of either Rob Johnson or Jamie Burke after the team heads to Las Vegas. There will be 35 players making that trip, including minor leaguers like Tyson Gillies and Mike Wilson.
I’ve got to run and catch a plane out of here. Larry Stone takes over full coverage tomorrow.
