Saw some good things in tonight’s game, like the Mariners doing their best to pick up starter Carlos Silva.
Seattle twice came back from two runs down, and also pitched well after Silva’s five innings were done. Chris Jakubauskas had a stellar debut, tossing two scoreless innings of one hit ball. That was a nice pickoff move to second as well.
Mark Lowe worked a perfect eighth.
It was Silva’s five innings that caused a 6-5 loss to the Minnesota Twins. Silva gave up too many early and big hits to his former team. Too many two-out hits. He did not do the job against lefties, nor could he make a really big pitch when he had to.
That’s why he lost tonight. The M’s are now 1-2.
