Franklin Gutierrez bumped back to No. 8, Endy Chavez in at No. 2 for Seattle Mariners

We discussed this on yesterday’s show, but Franklin Gutierrez seems to turn into a pumpkin whenever he’s put higher up in the order. Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu bumped Gutierrez back down to No. 8 after yesterday’s hitless affair. Endy Chavez, in a 3-for-29 slump, is back in at No. 2 after one day’s bench time. In fairness to Wakamatsu, he did say yesterday that moving Gutierrez up was done primarily so Ronny Cedeno could be kept further back in the order. Cedeno isn’t playing tonight. But he likes Gutierrez in the No. 8 spot for now.
No Wladimir Balentien against the righty.
