Mariners get enough runners home to post a 6-1 win over the Oakland Athletics

No, it wasn’t pretty at times. But the Mariners did manage to score enough of their runners from second and third base to take a 6-1 win this afternoon. The game was a lot closer than the final score indicated, largely because of all the squandered opportunities with runners in scoring position and at third base with fewer than two out.
But on a day Erik Bedard pitched 6 2/3 innings of one run ball and Sean White was again effective through the eighth, the M’s didn’t need much.
They still need work on this offense. The Angels won’t be as offensively impotent as the A’s were here in this series.
