Some Mariners news to report as catcher Rob Johnson gets activated in time for tonight’s game against Arizona. The Mariners have designated catcher Guillermo Quiroz for assignment, meaning Jamie Burke and his .109 average have the backup job for now.,
More interesting, though, is that infielder Josh Wilson has been claimed off waivers from the San Diego Padres. Wilson will join his ninth organization in the last 10 years at age 28. His five prior major league stints were with Florida, Washington, Tampa Bay, Arizona and San Diego. He is set to join the team tomorrow. Ronny Cedeno might be getting nervous, though Chris Woodward can still be sent down.
