Mariners-White Sox game thread

Here we go as the M’s come up in the bottom of the first. Interesting top half, we saw that Mr. French has quite a pickoff move and when you’re a team that hasn’t seen it, you can get caught. Did my lineups for Spanish radio, gracias a Alex Rivera y Julio Cruz. Good times in the booth.
Sox lineup:
Podsednik
Beckham
Dye
Thome
Konerko
Quentin
Ramirez
Nix
Castro
Top 2 M’s have Lopez playing in the outfield at 2B vs Thome and that’s where he hit, 4-3 if you score at home.
Mariners lineup:
Ichiro
Gutierrez
Lopez
Griffey
Beltre
Branyan
Wilson
Johjima
Saunders
24 pitches and so far French is looking good. Looks like he is going right after the Sox hitters.
Gavin Floyd is a guy that can be touched up. He’s got a 5.58 ERA on the road this season and his allowed more than twice as many earned runs on the road then at home.
Ah, the sounds of merengue for Mr. Beltre after Floyd overpowers Junior with a fastball for swinging strike three.
HAHA, funny comment by “Crappy Totals” about Beckham. Down goes Branyan on strikes and we’ve got a slim crowd tonight with some dark clouds outside.
Top 3
French’s pitch count getting up there. That’s 32 with no outs and he just walked Nix.
Top 4
Only one hit combined in first three innings, let’s see how long this lasts.
Bot 4
Ichiro stays at the plate for a long time after the called third strike, must be a little MLB star treatment that he is allowed to get away with. French has been good but Gavin Floyd is DEALING.
-Maybe M’s are close to figuring Floyd out. A walk to Gutierrez and Lopez with two pulled fouls deep down the LF line in same spot.
-Lopez lines a hard double off the wall in LF, that ball was hit so hard that Gutierrez had no chance to try and score. Second and third, one out.
-Griffey is able to bring in his hands and loop one over second into CF, both runners score its 2-0 Ms.
-High bouncer by Beltre is a single. First and second and here’s that guy who doesn’t normally bat sixth, Russ Branyan.
Way up in the top deck in right field is a guy wearing a Thunderbird head and a feathered costume. The guy next to him has a gorilla head. The chants of “Ja-ack Wilson” can be heard but the SS is retired on a line out to second. Inning over.
Top 5
Quentin doubles off Beltre’s glove into LF. It’s scored a hit. That’s the right call, scorer.
-Fly ball to Ichiro in medium deep right, makes catch and fires a laser beam to the cutoff man at short. No way Quentin’s running on that arm.
-After a walk, Adair visits the mound. French is in his first tight spot of the game with runners at 1 and 2 and 2 out.
-That 1-2 pitch to Castro? Might not have been located properly as the journeyman catcher strokes a double into the gap to drive in both runners. It’s 2-2 when inning ends.
Bot 5
M’s threaten with one out, Saunders walks and just stole second. First stolen base of the season for the kid from Victoria, B.C. If you are ever there go see Miniature World. Little diaramas of famous events in history. One of the coolest things I have seen.
-Ichiro base hit, Saunders scores, than Ichiro is tagged out 8-3-4 on the put out but gets the RBI. It’s 3-2 Seattle.
Top 6
Pair of walks by French has S. White warming up in the pen.
-HUGE called strikeout of Thome by French with the curve that is up in the zone and locks up Thome.
-This is the kid’s big inning as he hasn’t gone more than 5 1/3 innings in each of his past four starts. And he won’t now, as another walk brings out Wak, and it’s bye-bye French after 5 1/3 innings, 89 pitches. White is in with bases loaded, one out.
-3-1 pitch is ripped to LF, two runs score, those are French’s runs, and its 4-3 Sox, or “Good Guys,” as Hawk Harrelson calls them. Will I see an HR so I can say, “You can put it on the boooooooaaarddddd….YESSSSSS!”?
-White Ks Ramirez and gets out of the inning with no further damage but the Sox take the lead.
Down in SF, Rich Aurilia (you know him M’s fans) has hit into a double play to kill a Giants inning. LOVE IT.
Bot 6
-Branyan with a bomb, 0-2 pitch from Floyd hits the windows of the Hit it Here Cafe, they’re saying 423 feet. That’s 27 HRs for RB, looks like Wak’s moving him to sixth worked.
-Walk to Wilson is Floyd’s undoing, he’s out, Tony Pena is in and it’s 4-4. So French is off the hook for a loss.
-Wilson steals second, Johjima…yup, Johjima crushes one to LF and GONE. Right down the middle with that pitch and Joh hits into into the Sox pen. It’s 6-4 Seattle. Home runs are cool.
Bot 8
-Sorry folks I had to meet a deadline. Nice inning by Lowe, Dotel is on to pitch for the Go-Go Sox, and I see David Aardsma getting loose. Beltre with a bloop single with one out.
-Beltre steals second, Ms are really running tonight. 10th SB of the season for AB.
Top 9
Here we go, can AA get the job done? Ramirez is up first, Kotsay has come out on deck for the Sox. 1-2 pitch is socked into CF for a single.
-Here’s Kotsay. Tonight’s attendance: 21,049. And a thank you to all of you following along for joining me tonight. This is ALWAYS fun for me, not sure if I can do it EVERY single night but thanks for hanging with me. A shot to left, caught, one out.
-Now AJ Pierzynski gets the call, another pinch hitter. Pierzynski was 2-4 in his last game.
Since May 25, batting .347. Only Ichiro has been better in that stretch.
Numbers, schnumbers…AJ hits into the 4-6-3 DP and the game is over, Mariners win 6-4. Buenas noches amigos!
