Michael Saunders back in Seattle Mariners lineup; first base coach Lee Tinsley absent

Some good news for the Mariners today as Michael Saunders feels good and is raring to go. The left fielder has been out with a sore shoulder since last week. This offense needs all the help it can get.
Also, first base coach Lee Tinsley has gone home to be with his wife after she gave birth to the couple’s third child. Tinsley is expected to be absent the rest of the road trip, so Tim Tolman, the team’s roving minor league instructor, has come up to fill in for now. Tolman was the third base coach of the Washington Nationals in 2007 and 2008.
In other news, Mariners minor league pitcher Daniel Christensen has been suspended 50 games for a second violation of the minor league drug policy. The drug he is said to have taken was not performance enhancing, but a drug of abuse.
Christensen had been with Class AA West Tennessee, where he was 1-6 with a 4.16 ERA in 24 outings, 10 of them starts.
By the way, if you missed today’s Talkin’ Baseball segment on KJR AM 950’s Mitch in the Morning show, here it is.
