Just got to the ballpark and I can tell you that third baseman Jack Hannahan and infielder Josh Wilson are both in today’s starting lineup. I’m told a relief pitcher will be the one to go, clearing a major league spot for Bill Hall, and that it won’t be Miguel Batista.
Who does that leave?
Well, going down the list, Garrett Olson seems the most vulnerable. After all, he’s still got minor league options.
In other news, catcher Rob Johnson will very likely not get to see Jarrod Washburn’s “Dolphin” pitch firsthand from the batter’s box.
Johnson is not in today’s starting lineup. I’m told he’ll catch two games out of three in Cleveland, but, unless Kenji Johjima gets hurt or Washburn goes deep in the game and Johnson pinch-hits for someone — a highly unlikely occurence — then the “reunion” with former battery-mate Washburn is not going to happen.
One change to the lineup that I know will make some fans happy is that Russell Branyan is now down in the No. 5 spot. Franklin Gutierrez moves up to No. 2.
