Mariners were “money” tonight in win over Royals

Interesting factoid for you all before I run downstairs after this 8-4 win by the Mariners.
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Gil Meche is earning $11 million this season. The entire starting nine hitters for the Mariners plus pitcher Ian Snell are costing Seattle just over $5 million — combined.
That’s right, when you consider the money other teams absorbed in trading some of these guys to the M’s, the pricetag is less than half of what Meche earns. And the M’s scored seven runs off him the first four innings.
Interesting.
