Brandon Morrow to join team in Texas this coming week

Brandon Morrow threw only four innings, 72 pitches for Class AAA Tacoma in a 5-2 loss to Colorado Springs today, setting up a one-game winner-take-all showdown for the PCL title tomorrow. But if the Rainiers do indeed advance to the playoffs, Morrow won’t be a part of it.
I spoke to manager Don Wakamatsu moments ago and he confirmed the plan is still to bring Morrow up this week to pitch against the Rangers. Exactly whose spot he’s going to take remains to be seen. Ongoing speculation is that he’d replace the struggling Luke French, but the blister situation involving Doug Fister is also going to be monitored by the club.
“I haven’t gotten any reports on how he threw, other than the results,” Wakamatsu said. “But as long as he’s healthy and comes out of it OK, we want him up here with us.”
Wakamatsu also would not confirm which starter would be replaced. He expects to make that decision in the next day or two, which would give him time to see if Fister’s blister is a minor problem or more serious.
