Carlos Silva activated, White placed on 60-day DL

Mariner fans, your dreams have come true: The Mariners announced tonight that Carlos Silva has been recalled from his rehabilitation assignment and activated from the disabled list. He is available for tonight’s game against the White Sox.
To make room for Silva on the 40-man roster, right-hander Sean White has been placed on the 60-day disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis.
Silva, 30, made three combined rehab appearances for Everett and Tacoma. He allowed two earned runs in four innings. Silva, in the second year of a four-year, $48 million contract, was placed on the DL May 9 with right shoulder inflammation. Silva was transferred to the 60-day DL on June 18. Silva is 1-3 with an 8.48 ERA in six starts this year after going 4-15, 6.46 last year. Perhaps a couple of positive outings in the final days of this season will propel him to better days in 2010, when Silva’s salary escalates from $11 million to $11.5 million. or not.
White, 28, has not appeared in a game since August 28 against Kansas City. He did not allow a run in his final 11.2 innings pitched over his last eight games. White set single-season career-highs in appearances (52) and innings pitched (64.1) this season. He was 3-2 with a 2.80 ERA.
