Mariners announce tentative 2011 schedule: To open season April 1, face NL East in interleague

Major-league teams unveiled their tentative 2011 schedules today, and the Mariners will be facing the National League East in interleague play — along with the usual home-and-home series with traditional rival (hold your snickers, and your Three Muskateers) — San Diego. Check out the schedule in its entirety here.
The Mariners will open their season April 1, a Friday, in Oakland against the A’s. The season is opening (and ending) three days earlier than in previous years in an effort to get the World Series completed earlier. After series in Oakland and Texas, the Mariners will return to Safeco Field for their home opener on April 8 — a Friday night — against Cleveland. The Toronto Blue Jays will also be part of the opening homestand.

Home opponents for interleague will be the Phillies (June 17-19), Braves (June 27-29) and Padres (July 1-3). On the road, the M’s will face the Washington Nationals (June 21-23), Florida Marlins (June 24-26) and Padres (May 20-22).
The Mariners will have weekend visits by the Yankees (May 27-29) and Red Sox (Aug. 12-14). The Yankees will return Sept. 12-14.
The Mariners will be home on Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 8 vs. White Sox), Memorial Day (Monday, May 30 vs. Orioles), Father’s Day (Sunday, June 19, vs. Phillies), and the weekend of Independence Day (Friday through Sunday, July 1-3 vs. Padres).
