Thanks for all the questions, folks. Great show. Good conversation about Ken Griffey Jr. and the rest of the goings-on at spring training.
First, I gave you a rundown of the issues surrounding Griffey’s controversial retirement and why the impact was felt way beyond just him. After that, I tried to explain why this is still a big deal for some people and suggested Griffey at least owes fans an explanation for the way he left the squad.
After that, I asked team president Chuck Armstrong why it’s OK for Griffey to come back now when he couldn’t stand to remain with the team last year. An audio clip of Armstrong’s answer was then played on the show.
A viewer then suggested Don Wakamatsu made the perfect scapegoat for the Mariners in 2011. That sent me off and running.
But even with all of that said, I still believe bringing Griffey back is a good idea for the Mariners. Here’s why.
Moving off Griffey, a viewer asked whether we should be worried about Felix Hernandez being too overconfident following his Cy Young Award win.
Somehow, the conversation eventually turned to Canada and South Park. I was asked to do a Terrance and Phillip impersonation. Naturally, I gave it my best shot. Their jobs are safe.
