Obviously, there has been quite a bit of Ken Griffey Jr. chatter online over the past 24 hours or so.
Over at USS Mariner, author Dave Cameron takes an air of indifference towards the whole thing, suggesting that while bringing Griffey back as a special consultant is probably a good PR move for the Mariners, he’s beyond the point of really caring one way or the other.
At Lookout Landing, author Jeff Sullivan is a bit more upbeat, agreeing with Cameron about the PR value while also suggesting that words coming out of Griffey’s mouth might resonate more with young Mariners prospects and players than they would from others knowledgeable about the game — like coaches.

Over at Sodo Mojo, Harrison Crow takes a stab at projecting the innings pitched, ERA and WAR that Erik Bedard might accumulate this season. His conclusions are interesting and I tack on my nickel’s worth afterwards.
ProBall NW has begun taking a look at all the players on the 40-man roster and today’s subject is Franklin Gutierrez. Taylor Halperin suggests three reasons for Gutierrez’s statistical decline last year. I wind up throwing in a fourth that I feel is as important as the first three.
