Mariners-Dodgers game thread, March 9

M’S WIN 9-4 — M’s hold on to win 9-4 and are now 6-4-1 and winners of three in a row.
Three HRs today from Jack Wilson, Cust and Liddi, and Fister got the win on the mound giving up only a solo HR that likely would have died 10 feet in front of the wall at Safeco.
Erik Bedard gets the start tomorrow and expected to go three innings in his most extensive action yet of the spring.
M’S GET OUT OF IT — After a visit to the mound from Willis, Olson got Marcus Thames to hit a fly to left, so the rally ended and the M’s lead 9-4 in the top of the ninth.
OLSON STRUGGLING — LA has two runs in and the bases loaded with two outs here in the eighth. Seattle still leads 9-4 but Dodger fans getting into it.
M’S NOW UP 9-2 IN THE BOTTOM OF EIGHT — Garrett Olson on the mound for the M’s as they are on track for their third win in three days.
M’S EXPLODE –— Liddi hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh to break the game open and the M’s now lead 9-2 in the eighth. Most of us media types were interviewing the regulars who had left the game, so I frankly missed it. But right now, a good day for the M’s on offense after some struggles the last week.
M’S LEAD 4-1 TO BOTTOM OF SIXTH — A lot of changes now as the M’s take a 4-1 lead.
CUST GOES DEEP — Unlock the flood gates as the Mariners have gotten their second HR today after going eight days without one, Cust unloading in the top of the sixth after Gutierrez doubled to make it 4-1. The HR Wilkin DeLaRosa.
M’S SURVIVE SHAKY FIELDING — Josh Wilson booted a ground ball to lead off the inning and Liddi then lost a pop up in the sun that fell in front of home plate. But Bard threw to second for the out on the latter play and Pauley then got out of it to send the game to the sixth with the Mariners ahead 2-1.
PAULEY NOW IN FOR MARINERS — Nothing for M’s in top of fifth and some other changes with Langerhans in right and Liddi at third.
FISTER DONE — He’s officially done having thrown 54 pitches, 32 strikes.
FISTER BETTER — Fister has given up just one run and two hits through four innings against what is pretty much the Dodgers’ regular lineup, better than last time out when he allowed five hits and two runs in three innings. He leaves (we think) with a 2-1 lead heading to the top of the fifth.
M’S LEAD 2-1 HEADING TO BOTTOM OF FOURTH — Wilson’s HR was all Seattle got in the fourth, so it’s 2-1 to the bottom of the inning.
M’S HIT FIRST HOMER SINCE LAST TUESDAY — Jack Wilson just hit a 1-0 pitch to left-center with one out in the fourth off of Hong-Chih Kuo, an All-Star a year ago making his first appearance of the spring.
1-1 END OF THIRD — Barajas hit a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the third to tie it after Seattle got nothing in the top. Ichiro and Figgins singled to lead off the inning but Figgins was thrown out stealing to help end the threat.
Fister may go one more inning.
1-0 TO THE THIRD — Another good inning for Fister, the second including a 4-3 turned by Jack Wilson in his second start at second base.
GARLAND LEAVES — Dodger starter Jon Garland has left the game with some sort of side injury. He went 1.2 innings and allowed one run and one hit.
FISTER SHARP EARLY — Fister got two strikeouts looking in the first and gave up a lone single in setting the Dodgers down. 1-0 Seattle to the second.
M’S TAKE 1-0 LEAD — Ichiro reached on an E-3, went to third on a Figgins single and scored on a passed ball — which lately has passed for a pretty big rally for the Mariners. 1-0 to the bottom of first.
For the Dodgers, Ethier has been scratched with Gabe Kapler taking his place.
