Carlos Peguero gets start in left field

The Mariners’ lineup for today’s 12:40 p.m. game with Detroit is up, and Carlos Peguero gets his first major-league start in left field, batting seventh, as Milton Bradley gets a rest. Adam Kennedy gets the start at first base and bats third, while Chris Gimenez moves behind the plate. Here’s the lineup:
Ichiro RF
Chone Figgins 3B
Adam Kennedy 1B
Jack Cust DH
Michael Saunders CF
Luis Rodriguez SS
Carlos Peguero LF
Jack Wilson 2B
Chris Gimenez C
Erik Bedard LHP
It will be fun to see Peguero take his hacks. At 6-foot-5, 247 pounds, he’s got tremendous power, and word is that he sent one over the batters eye in center field into the bleachers during batting practice at Safeco with Tacoma before their season started.

Here’s Detroit’s lineup:
Austin Jackson CF
Ryan Raburn 2B
Magglio Ordonez DH
Miguel Cabrera 1B
Jhonny Peralta SS
Brennan Boesch LF
Brandon Inge 3B
Casper Wells RF
Omir Santos C
Rick Porcello RHP
