No Milton Bradley in lineup today against Tim Wakefield

The Mariners face a knuckleballer today with a lineup that includes Ryan Langerhans (photo above) in left field instead of Milton Bradley.
That’s a little unusual, given how Bradley snapped an 0-for-22 slump last night with an RBI double that was the difference in the game. Usually, the idea is to get the guys breaking out of the slump back in there as soon as possible.
But M’s manager Eric Wedge opted for Langerhans instead, saying it’s a good idea to have experience in there.
For the record, Bradley is only 2-for-14 off Wakefield lifetime. Langerhans is 2-for-4.
Small sample size, sure, in the case of Langerhans. But in Bradley’s case, it’s pretty extensive with not a whole lot of success and you probably don’t want to risk having him go skidding off the rails again offense-wise when he just busted his slump.
Want another sample size?
Bradley has played one game — last night — in which he got ejected for chirping at first base umpire Todd Tichenor on a play at first base. Guess who’s behind home plate calling balls and strikes today?
You ask me, that’s reason enough to give Bradley the day off.
