Mike Carp makes first start in left field

Despite striking out three times and hitting into a double play on Monday, Mike Carp is not only back in the lineup, but he’s playing left field for the first time since he got called up. Greg Halman gets the start in center as Franklin Gutierrez gets a night off against Jered Weaver, against whom he’s hitting .208 (5-for-24). DH Jack Cust is a .310 hitter (9-for-29, one homer) off Weaver.
Russ Branyan gets the start at DH for the Angels.
