Jason Vargas hit early and offense only shows up late in 4-2 loss

Chalk up another missed opportunity by the Mariners, who take a 4-2 loss to the Florida Marlins.
Jason Vargas gave up three quick runs in the first inning and his woeful offense never really recovered from there.
Carlos Peguero, seen in the photo above walking off after a game-ending strikeout, did hit an earlier home run, which was nice.

Peguero also singled during a seventh-inning rally by the Mariners. But Ichiro grounded out with the bases loaded to end the seventh and Miguel Olivo hit into a double-play to end the eighth.
The Mariners are now in third place. A half-game behind the Angels.
This team needs offensive help from outside the organization.
