BREAKING NEWS: Just got word that David Aardsma will undergo Tommy John ligament transplant surgery on his UCL next week in California. Aardsma will be out this season and likely most of next year as well.
Bottom of the sixth we go and it’s the same old story, the Mariners down 2-0 and being held to two hits by Colby Lewis thus far.
Franklin Gutierrez hit a leadoff double in the fifth, but Kyle Seager and Carlos Peguero struck out and then Ichiro grounded out.
Doug Fister has allowed three hits and two runs through six. But he’s going to lose again unless something changes in a hurry with this offense.
That’s 23 scoreless innings for the Mariners.

8:19 p.m.: Four innings are done here and the Rangers lead it 2-0 over Doug Fister and the Mariners. Nelson Cruz led off the second inning with a single, took third on a double to left by Yorvit Torrealba, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Endy Chavez.
That’s been it for offense since.
Brendan Ryan got Seattle’s only hit on a single to left in the third after a walk to Carlos Peguero. But Dustin Ackley lined out to center to end the scoring chance against Colby Lewis.
7:20 p.m.:The Mariners have lost six in a row while the Rangers have won eight straight. Texas has scored one more run during those eight games than Seattle has managed in exactly one month.
Texas already leads 1-0, with Ian Kinsler lining a leadoff double to left, taking third on a groundout and scoring on a Josh Hamilton sacrifice fly. Third baseman Kyle Seager committed an error on an Adrian Beltre grounder after that, but Doug Fister got the final out.
