Brendan Ryan has left shoulder soreness, out again

Brendan Ryan will miss his second game in a row tonight. He’s just been scratched with left shoulder soreness, stemming from a collison last Wednesday with Adam Kennedy when they were chasing a foul pop-up down the left field line.
Jack Wilson has been put in to take Ryan’s place.
Turns out that the backdoor throw that nailed Casper Wells at third base last night was no spur-of-the-moment decision by Angels shortstop Erick Aybar. In speaking with folks inside the Angels clubhouse, I’m told that Orlando Cabrera taught that play to Aybar years ago and he’s been working on it ever since. He’s apparently only attempted it a few times in games, but does so when the opportunity presents itself.
Well, it presented itself last night and Wells got nabbed.

One other thing I told you I’d check on involved Mike Carp, who was caught stealing by a huge margin in last night’s second inning. Turns out, he was merely sent early with the count full and Adam Kennedy at the plate. The M’s were trying to stay out of a double play and figured Kenendy would either swing at a strike and put the ball in-play or take a walk.
Well, Kennedy took a called third strike and Carp was a dead duck. Jered Weaver threw Kennedy a two-seam fastball inside that ran back over the plate and froze him.
So, there you go.
