Mariners at Los Angeles Angels: Aug. 6, 2011 game thread

Everything this Trayvon Robinson guy does seems to be memorable. He hit his first big league home run in the seventh inning off Tyler Chatwood to make it a 5-0 game. But even Robinson couldn’t seem to believe the ball was out. He actually stopped at second base and the ump had to tell him to keep going, that the ball had indeed cleared the center field wall.
Anyhow, no one’s complaining. An outfielder that hits home runs…hmmm. Yeah, I think this team could probably use one…or three.
7:08 p.m.: Seattle leads it 4-0 after four innings, with two more runs coming in the top of the fourth. Jack Wilson hit a one-out double down the left field line and later came around to score on a Mike Carp double past the first base bag. Adam Kennedy drew a walk after that and Miguel Olivo singled to right to bring him home.
The Angels seemed poised to score in the bottom of the frame, with runners at the corners and one out. But second baseman Dustin Ackley made a tremendous play, ranging to his right for an Erick Aybar grounder. Ackley then made a perfect, off-balance throw to second, where Wilson get the force out and then threw back to first for a neat 4-6-3 double play. Real nice.

6:21 p.m.: Blake Beavan goes for the Mariners tonight, trying to make it 6-for-6 in terms of “quality starts” of at least six inning pitched and three runs or fewer allowed.
Beavan will have a 2-0 lead before he throws a pitch, as Adam Kennedy delivered the two-out, two-run double to left-fielder off Tyler Chatwood in the top of the first. Ichiro led off with a single, Dustin Ackley walked and then Kennedy came through against his former team.
