There won’t be any Larry Bernandez appearances on the mound tonight. No Felix Hernandez stuff either. But Michael Pineda is a pretty good runner-up choice for the Mariners, who try to get back in the win column.
Well, actually, there was a Bernandez appearance. He threw out the ceremonial first pitch, caught by Chris Shilley of Centralia. Shilley is the guy seen in our video below, a Bernandez lookalike who walks up and shakes the real Bernandez’s hand right at the beginning. His costume was enough to get him an invite down to the field.
Got to meet one of our regular blog contributors, marinersbrian, outside during all of the Larry Bernandez hoopla. Nice guy, here with his family. But no, he won’t be throwing out any first pitches.
In baseball news, Alex Rios has been scratched for the White Sox with a bruised right hand.
We aren’t doing any regular in-game commentary here tonight as the traffic is too light. But I enjoyed chatting with some of you live.
Let’s do it again, soon.
