Mariners recall 3B Alex Liddi, OF Michael Saunders, RHP Steve Delabar from Class AAA

The Mariners decided not to wait until after tonight’s game to announce their final September call-ups from Class AAA.
Alex Liddi (Photo Credit: AP) becomes the first Italian-born major leaguer since Remo Bertoia a half-century ago to make it to the major leagues. The third baseman from San Remo, Italy had a monster season in AAA, becoming the second Tacoma player ever to both drive in and score more than 100 runs.
Michael Saunders will also join the team for his latest stint, bolstering outfield depth in the process.
And the surprise addition is right-handed reliever Steve Delabar, who will have to be added to the 40-man roster. A corresponding move will be announced tomorrow.
Delabar, 28, split the season between Class A High Desert, AA Jackson and AAA Tacoma. He was signed on April 20 as a minor league free agent after pitching in the independent leagues in 2008 and 2009. He didn’t pitch in 2010.
