Mariners promote Roger Hansen to special assistant to GM

The Mariners just announced that Roger Hansen has been named special assistant to general manager Jack Zduriencik.
“Roger has a long history working in our player development department,” Zduriencik said in a press release. “His new role reporting directly to me will allow him greater influence in a variety of areas as we continue to develop championship players in our minor-league system. I look forward to Roger’s insight and input, his recommendations and his contributions as we move forward.
Hansen has worked in player development with the Mariners for 18 years. He also spent three years as a player in the club’s minor-league system.
For the last nine seasons, Hansen, 50, has worked as the Mariners’ catching coordinator, working with catchers throughout the minor-league system.
