New York Yankees at Mariners: Sept. 12, 2011 — the lineups

Mariners manager Eric Wedge made a change Monday, moving third baseman Kyle Seager into the No. 2 spot in the lineup.
“I’ve been thinking about it,” Wedge said. “Give him a chance to get up to the top of the lineup there and maybe give him an extra (at-bat), have different opportunities for him, see how it works.
With Seager moving up in the order, Brendan Ryan will hit eighth. The shortstop is 10 for 68 since he returned from the 15-day disabled list Aug. 19 — he had a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder.
“He (Ryan) just needs to find that swing,” Wedge said. “He gets too frustrated with himself and drives himself crazy, drives me crazy. He needs to handle that a little bit better.”
Wedge laughed as he said that and went on to say, “He’s awesome. He’s a good kid, he just needs to handle things with a little bit less frustration.”
When asked if Ryan has made strides in that area, Wedge said he’s seen a small improvement.
“He’s intense,” Wedge said. “He cares so much. He wants to win. He wants to do good. It
all comes from a good place.”
