Mariners at Cleveland Indians: Sept. 19, 2011 game thread

The Mariners begin their final road trip of the season with this one makeup game in Cleveland, then head on to Minnesota and Texas. Seattle has a chance against some struggling clubs, especially the last-place Twins, before heading out to face the Rangers. With any luck, the Rangers will have wrapped up the AL West by then and won’t be playing their A-team.
At that point, with the Oakland A’s looming as the final opponent of the season, the M’s can look to limit their losses in a season that will still see them finish with 90+.
For now, they can focus on cutting down on the number of strikeouts they’ve piled up the past week or so. They’re at 97 for the past eight games and that’s about twice as many as you’d like to see over that time period.
Charlie Furbush takes the mound this afternoon. He’s done a better job of attacking the strike zone early with his fastball the past couple of outings. Needs to keep doing it.
