Mariners at Texas Rangers: Sept. 23, 2011 game thread

Anthony Vasquez takes the mound in what will probably wind up being a sacrificial lamb type of situation. Vasquez has enjoyed minimal success since being promoted as the “sixth starter” but he faces a fastball-hitting Rangers squad that needs one more win plus an Angels loss to clinch the American League West for a second straight year.
Chances are, the Rangers won’t let this opportunity go to waste. Best hope for the M’s is that Texas starts overswinging at all the sub-80 mph stuff. If Vasquez can’t locate, he won’t last three innings.
Trayvon Robinson gets a look as the No. 2 hitter tonight. Chris Gimenez gets some rare game action as the first baseman. Gimenez isn’t arbitration eligible next season, so there’s a good chance the M’s will bring him back. This gives them a chance to test out his versatility
