Mariners finally face Texas Rangers for first time this spring

march12.jpg
Wow, it’s funny to imagine this is the first time the Mariners will play the Texas Rangers this spring. In fact, it’s the only time. Go back prior springs and it felt like they’d hook up every two or three days.
Yep, win a couple of AL titles, and now the Rangers are big-timing the M’s. Must be it.

Nelson Cruz is becoming an all-around Mariners killer and it apparently extends to pre-season as well because he got hold of a Blake Beavan pitch in the second inning and jacked it out to left center. But the Mariners tied it in the third inning as Vinnie Catricala sent a towering drive just inside the left field foul pole for his second homer of the spring.
Teams tied 1-1 in the third.
1:12 p.m.: Blake Beavan got through a quick first inning on two flyouts to left and a nice, swinging strikeout on Josh Hamilton.
