Mariners’ lineup vs. Rockies, Tuesday tidbits

The Mariners travel to Scottsdale today for the middle game of their crucial three-game exhibition series with the Colorado Rockies. OK, it’s meaningless, except for another opportunity for Seattle players to continue their recovery from the Japan trip before breaking camp after tomorrow’s game and heading to Oakland for Friday’s Re-Opening Day.
Speaking of which, the team is slowly getting back to health after the flu bug that hit them post-Japan. Dustin Ackley is back in the lineup for the first time since the team returned. Michael Saunders is also back in there, and George Sherrill is scheduled to pitch. The only new casualty today was bullpen catcher Jason Phillips.
Here’s the lineup:
Kawasaki SS
Ackley 2B
Seager 3B
Olivo C
Saunders CF
Liddi 1B
Peguero RF
Wells LF
Jaso DH
Ramirez 1

Though he’s not in the lineup, Jesus Montero was in the clubhouse showing no ill-effects from yesterday’s beaning, which is great news.
And this just in: Junior is in the house. Ken Griffey Jr showed up in the clubhouse for his second stint with the team this spring.
Munenori Kawasaki is at shortstop today. He continues to make a strong bid for increased playing time with his .450 spring average.
“That’s why we’ve bounced him around so much between shortstop and second, and a little bit of third base,” manager Eric Wedge said after Monday’s game. “As aggressive as he is, his understanding of the game, his feel for different situations — all that is going to help us.”
