Mariners cruise to victory behind early homers by Chone Figgins and Ichiro

There should be a law someplace that says your team has to win any time Chone Figgins and Ichiro hit home runs in the same inning.
They did that in the opening frame and Jason Vargas had little trouble from there in a 4-1 win over the Cleveland Indians. Vargas escaped a bases loaded, one out jam in the sixth and woumd up going seven frames for the victory. The Indians showed little interest after that and went down in order against Brandon League in the amount of time it usually takes a stopwatch to accurately record.
Only 11,343 were on-hand to see it. The all-time smallest crowd for a Mariners home game at Safeco Field. As you can see from the photo above, it didn’t look like much.
But at least they saw a win.
