There were a lot of empty seats at Rangers Ballpark by the time this one ended. Always a good sign for the visiting team.
Any time the Mariners erupt for six runs in an inning, it’s cause for celebration. They did that tonight, scoring six in the eighth to turn a nailbiter into a 10-3 laugher.
The win snaps a five-game losing streak for Seattle and marked just their third victory in this ballpark in the last 16 tries.
Jason Vargas did enough to keep it close, then comes away with the win. He had to be shaking his head in amazement as the eighth inning unfolded. That doesn’t happen very often.
John Jaso and Kyle Seager set the tone with their bats tonight. Mariners need to get that type of production a lot more consistently than they have.
