Mariners keep on hitting, pound Angels into submission

There wasn’t much starting pitching to speak of for the Mariners on this trip. But the hitters kept on connecting, to the tune of 64 runs over the nine games including eight more tonight in an 8-6 win over the Angels.
It was the fifth time on the trip in which the M’s have scored eight or more.
Take away that one 21-run game in Texas and you still have 43 runs in eight games, which is well over five per night. After what we’ve seen in recent years, the Mariners will take it.
Huge night for Kyle Seager with four RBI and for Ichiro with a pair, including that late home run. The Mariners scored all eight of their runs with two out.
And they notch their first series win in Anaheim since 2009.

That bullpen work was pretty good too, with the two double-plays induced by Stepen Pryor in getting through the sixth and seventh, then the scoreless eighth from Brandon League and a one-hit ninth by Tom Wilhelmsen.
So, the M’s finish with a 5-4 record on the road trip and now head back to Safeco Field. Can they keep on hitting there? We’ll soon find out.
