Mariners’ Friday lineup vs. Padres

petco.jpg
As you can see, it’s a gorgeous day in San Diego. I understand that’s not quite the case in Seattle. Sorry. Kind of.
Here’s today’s lineup against San Diego lefty Clayton Richard, who shut down the Mariners in Seattle, giving up one run in seven innings on June 12 in a 5-4 Padres win. The Padres, who have a 24-46 record — worst in the majors — swept that series, so the Mariners should have revenge on their minds.
Mariners (30-41)
——————————
51 Ichiro Suzuki (L) RF
21 Franklin Gutierrez CF
15 Kyle Seager (L) 3B
17 Justin Smoak (S) 1B
33 Casper Wells LF
30 Miguel Olivo C
13 Dustin Ackley (L) 2B
26 Brendan Ryan SS
25 Kevin Millwood RHP
Padres (24-46)
——————————
25 Will Venable (L) RF
24 Cameron Maybin CF
7 Chase Headley (S) 3B
18 Carlos Quentin LF
23 Yonder Alonso (L) 1B
11 Logan Forsythe 2B
2 Everth Cabrera (S) SS
4 Nick Hundley C
33 Clayton Richard (L) P
As you can see, Jesus Montero sits for the third day in a row (Wednesday in Arizona, Thursday’s off-day, and Friday). Michael Saunders also is on the bench as manager Eric Wedge rides the hot Casper Wells. He’ll have a lot easier time making out lineups when the Mariners get the DH back, starting Monday.
