Triunfel gets first major-league start vs. depleted Rangers

Here’s tonight’s Mariners lineup, featuring the first major-league start for shortstop Carlos Triunfel:
Mariners (70-80)
——————————–
13 Dustin Ackley (L) 2B
21 Franklin Gutierrez CF
15 Kyle Seager (L) 3B
63 Jesus Montero DH
17 Justin Smoak (S) 1B
55 Michael Saunders (L) LF
30 Miguel Olivo C
33 Casper Wells RF
8 Carlos Triunfel SS
——————————–
18 Hisashi Iwakuma RHP

The Rangers will be without one of their superstars, Josh Hamilton, who remained in Texas because of sinus issues that have left him with blurry vision. No word on if, or when, he’ll arrive in Seattle. They also could be without torrid Adrian Beltre, who was suffering from abdominal pain in Anaheim and remained back for tests. The Rangers haven’t posted their lineup yet, so I don’t know if Beltre arrived or is well enough to play, but I’d be surprised if he was in the lineeup.
That’s 76 homers and 218 RBIs out of the lineup, so that’s a huge break for the Mariners against a team that is 19 1/2 games ahead of them in the standings. Texas leads the season series, 9-7.
