ADDITIONAL NOTE 11:20 a.m.: The Dodgers just announced that they have hired Bob Engle as vice-president of international scouting. Hardly a surprise since Engle, who resigned from the Mariners three weeks ago, is considered one of the best in the business at this job. He wasn’t going to stay on the open market very long.
The Mariners added four minor league coaches to their roster today, including onetime infielder Chris Woodward, who played with the team in 2009 and 2010. He’ll be the organization’s new minor league infielding co-ordinator.
Former AL Rookie of the Year Alvin Davis — known as “Mr. Mariner” –sees his part-time coaching role from last year expanded to a full-time job as a minor league roving instructor.

The Mariners also added Brant Brown as a minor league outfield and baserunning co-ordinator, after he’d spent the past six years asa hitting instructor in the Texas Rangers system.
Jose Moreno takes over as Latin American Field Co-ordinator after he’d spent the last 13 systems managing in Seattle’s minor league affiliates, including a stint with Rookie Level Pulaski last season.
Javier Alvidrez comes over from the Yankees organization to be Seattle’s new Latin American athletic trainer co-ordinator.
