Mariners’ lineup Friday vs. Rockies

Jay Buhner has arrived in camp, and Ken Griffey Jr. is said to be not  far behind, so things should be a bit livelier when the team re-convenes after Tuesday’s off-day — one of three scheduled days off for the Mariners this spring. They face the Rockies today in Peoria, with Jon Garland on the mound, followed by, among others, Lucas Luetge, Stephen Pryor, Tom Wilhelmsen and Taijuan Walker.

Today’s game will be televised live on ROOT, the first broadcast of the year, beginning at noon Seattle time.

Danny Hultzen was supposed to pitch today, but he’s been scratched. No reason has yet been given, but it’s not believed serious. FYI, the Mariners said today that Felix Hernandez’s first Cactus League start will take place Thursday against the Royals in Surprise. They also play the A’s in a split-squad game, but I always felt it was unlikely they would pitch Hernandez against the team they’ll face on Opening Day.
