More heartbreak in Chicago: Mariners lose on another walkoff homer

Dayan Viciedo of the Chicago White Sox trots home victoriously after his walkoff homer in the 10th dealt the Mariners a 4-3 loss at U.S. Cellular Field.

Dayan Viciedo hit a walkoff home run to left field off Mariners relief pitcher Kameron Loe to hand Seattle a 4-3 loss in 10 innings. The Mariners finish their first road trip of the season with a 3-4 record, dropping four of their last five games.

The Mariners had their chances in this one, but the deeper this game got into the Seattle bullpen, you could just sense it ending on a walkoff. In fact, I called it a few innings ago with witnesses. Not that we could not see this happening even before the game began.

Walkoff losses for the Mariners are becoming a fact of life at U.S. Cellular Field.

The Mariners have not won a series here since 2007 and won’t do it this year.

Michael Morse opened the game with a two-run homer, but finished with four strikeouts, the last one coming in the top of the 10th with two on.
