Mariners have more regular lineup in versus right-hander

Screen Shot 2013-04-27 at 1.43.54 PM

Right-hander Joe Blanton is on the mound tonight for the Angels and that means the Mariners have their more typical lineup out there. Endy Chavez leads off while Jason Bay gets the night off. Raul Ibanez also sits once again as far as fielding goes, but will be the night’s DH. Carlos Peguero gets another look in the field. Peguero had that monstorus homer the other night while Ibanez has not been getting it done when he’s in the lineup and playing the outfield at the same time.

Over in the infield, Brendan Ryan starts at shortstop while the right-handed Robert Andino takes a seat. The Mariners may have lost last night, but their intensity level and overall play was far more competitive than what we saw on the road trip.

That won’t guarantee victory, but it at least gives them a shot in this series with the pitching matchups now lined up in their favor.

They will have to continue to play at that level if they want to climb out of this early hole they’ve dug for themselves. Moral victories don’t count for much at this stage. You have to keep playing with a sense of urgency and hope the real wins start to accumulate.
