MARINERS FOURTH – The Mariners take a 3-0 lead. Kyle Seager hit his fourth homer of the season on the first pitch following a leadoff walk to Michael Saunders for a 2-0 lead. Each had one hit through the first four innings. It is the first major-league start of the season for Toronto left-hander Ricky Romero who started the season working on his pitching mechanics in Florida. He made one start at Class-A Dunedin last week before being called up to Toronto when Josh Johnson was put on the disabled list with triceps inflammation. After the homer, Romero hit Kendrys Morales with a pitch, struck out Michael Morse and loaded the bases by walking Jason Bay and Justin Smoak. Dustin Ackley scored a run with a single to right. Romero got a force at the plate after Jesus Montero’s comebacker hit him on the left arm. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons and a trainer visited Romero at the mound but he was able to continue and ended the inning on a popup by Brendan Ryan.
