The Mariners made some moves today designed to safeguard their bullpen depth and protect Erasmo Ramirez ahead of the All-Star Break. Ramirez is off to Class A Everett so he can continue to pitch on his regular turn during the All-Star Break. Blake Beavan is to join the Class AAA starting rotation for Tacoma.

Coming up to the Mariners from AAA are Bobby Lafromboise and Hector Noesi.

Lafromboise gives the Mariners a left-handed bullpen option after Charlie Furbush worked extensively in recent days. Noesi will take Beavan’s spot as long relief protection.

These moves are nothing to get excited about. Ramirez would have gone a bunch of time between outings if the Mariners didn’t take this step.

It is not a commentary on his lack of effectiveness or command yesterday.
