A two-run single by Alberto Callaspo cut Seattle’s lead to 4-3 in the sixth inning. Mike Trout was at first base when Howie Kendrick doubled to left field to put two on. The Mariners walked Mark Trumbo intentionally to load the bases with two out before Callaspo singled to right.

2:45 p.m.: Mark Trumbo┬ájust put the Angels on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth with a leadoff solo shot to left off Hisashi Iwakuma. That’s 11 homers allowed by Iwakuma his last five starts and it cuts Seattle’s lead to 3-1.

2:15 p.m. Michael Saunders had given the Mariners a second-inning lead when he pounded a pitch from Joe Blanton over the right field wall for a two-run homer. It was the 22nd consecutive game in which the Mariners have gone deep, extending their franchise record. The Mariners added another run in the fourth to make it 3-0 as Kyle Seager singled, Justin Smoak walked and flyouts by Saunders and Mike Zunino moved Seager to third base and then on home.

12:38 p.m.: The Mariners have yet to sweep a series all year and — as such — have yet to have a winning streak of more than three games. They can take care of the sweep part this afternoon, with Hisashi Iwakuma taking the mound against the Los Angeles Angels.

Last nght’s shutout by the Mariners was their 10th, tying a team-record for those prior to the All-Star Break.
